      Description

      There's irony in the fact that, what started as an ordinary movie theater, has become a picturesque entertainment venue that looks like it's straight out of a period film. Its nostalgic design is just part of what makes the Palace Theatre so appealing to its schedule of all-star bands, musicians, comedians, and orchestras. Though it's no longer a cinema, the Palace Theater continues to entertain audiences around the Albany area with performers that just can't resist this historic entertainment landmark.

      Located on Clinton Ave in the street's historic district, the Palace Theatre has a rich history entertaining audiences in Albany. The RKO movie palace was erected in 1931 and, at the time, was the third largest movie theater in the world. The outside of the building is primarily brick, while the inside is reminiscent of a 16th century Austrian-style opera house. In the early 70s, it was purchased by the city and converted into a civic auditorium, and has since scheduled legendary performers like the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, and Jerry Seinfeld. The Palace Theatre has also received a number of renovations since that time providing more space and modern features while still retaining its historic and classic appearance.

      The lavish design of the theater only enhances the star-studded performances by some of the biggest names in entertainment. Audiences in Albany that haven't yet experienced the magic of the Palace Theatre should stop by and watch modern entertainment meet a classic venue.
